Welcome to St. Peter's...a community of faith dedicated to serving God through serving others.

St. Peter's Episcopal Church is a unique blend of multicultural families coming together in the power of the Holy Spirit to serve God in such ways that the love of Jesus might be seen through us, by spreading God's Word, following Christ's example, and addressing the needs of the community.

Ministries - Opportunities to Serve

Worship

Altar Guild The Altar Guild is a group of confirmed members of the Church who serve in God's Church and at His altar. Each member makes their service an offering to the Lord, making their Christian witness with quiet rejoicing. The Guild is responsible for caring for the silver and brass, preparing the candles for use, caring for the linens, and setting up the sanctuary for the Eucharist and other services, as well as taking it all down following each service. They are responsible for replenishing the supplies and laundering and keeping the linens and hangings in good repair. A Guild member serves as flower chairperson, and members of the Guild take altar flowers to the sick and infirm.

Acolytes The Acolyte ministry is one of the oldest in the Church. Acolytes are responsible for attending to the Lord's Table, lighting the candles, carrying the ornaments of the Church in the procession, serving the elements to the Celebrant at the Eucharist and serving the clergy and staff in whatever ways may be required.

Lectors Lectors are responsible for reading the Psalms and lessons appointed for the Sunday or other services.

Lay Eucharistic Ministers Lay Eucharistic Ministers serve at the alter by assisting with the administration of the Eucharist.

Vergers The work of the Verger is a lay ministry, often exercised behind the scene in support of all of those, ordained and lay, who participate in worship and liturgy. Vergers relieve the clergy of the burden of liturgical detail so that they can concentrate on their priestly duties to preach the Word and administer ther Sacraments.

Cursillo The Cursillo movement, prepares laity to be truly evangelistic in their work situatons, their family and social lives, in leisure activities or within the institutional church. The movement guides Christians to a deeper relationship with God and helps them understand their individual callings to be Christian leaders. Dedication to continued prayer, study and apostolic action are taught so these leaders can more effectively do the work of evangelism. Weekends are held at Camp Allen. Ultreya meetings and reunion groups allow Cursillistas to further explore their calling and keep in contact with one another.

Organizations

Daughters of the King The Daughters of the King are women of courage who have made a commitment to Server God, our King. We wear our crosses as an outward and visible sign that we cannot live a day without Christ in our lives. We see our Order as a community of nurturing women accepting all people, bridging differences and cherishing traditions. Moving into the 2st century empowered by the Holy Spirit, our vision is to encourage and enable all to be reflections of God's love, reaching out through prayer, service and evangelism to spread His kingdom. At Peter's we are a religious Order of laywomen who have made a commitment to serve God our King. Lift high the Cross! The Order meets on the second Sunday of each month at 10:30am in the Chapel. The Order has a national web site at http://www.dok-national.org.

Souls-N-Service The Souls-N-Service is a ministry dedicated to outreach to the surrounding community as well as our own membership. Anyone who is a member of St. Peter's is also a member of Souls-N-Service.
